Explosions, anti-aircraft fire in Baghdad: AFP correspondent
BAGHDAD (AFP) Mar 20, 2003 Several explosions rocked Baghdad on Thursday where anti-aircraft fire was heard, an AFP correspondent in the Iraqi capital said.
The explosions were heard over a quarter of an hour around 4:35 am, shortly after air raid sirens went off.
Smoke clouds were seen from the edges of Baghdad.
In Washington moments later, the White House announced that war on Iraq had begun.
