"The incident took place Sunday evening. The bus overturned and the majority of the soldiers received minor injuries and bruises. Two of them were taken to hospital," Captain Randall Baucom, public relations officer, told AFP.

The bus was on a highway near Ali Al-Salem Air Base, some 60 kilometersmiles) northwest of Kuwait City.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known, but the bus driver, a Kenyan national, had been taken in for "questioning" by the Kuwaiti secret service, which Baucom said was a normal procedure.

Some 25,000 US troops are permanently stationed in Kuwait but between 2,000 to 4,000 other US soldiers arrive in Kuwait daily on their way in or out of Iraq as part of a massive troop rotation.
