"One Marine assigned to 1st Marine Expeditionary Force died June 3 of wounds received in action on May 27 in the Al Anbar Province while conducting security and stability operations," the statement read.

The death raises to 603 the number of US soldiers killed in action, according to numbers from the Pentagon, since the US military entered Iraq in March 2003.
