Earthquake measuring 4.2 rocks New Zealand's West Coast

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale rattled parts of the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island early Monday, the Geological and Nuclear Sciences department said.

The quake was at a depth of 12 kilometres (seven miles) but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
