SEOUL (AFP) Jun 22, 2005 South Korea told North Korea Wednesday to return to six-nation negotiations on its nuclear program in July "without fail," a South Korean spokesman at cabinet-level talks said. "Our side stressed both South and North Korea must cooperate to discuss substantial steps ... to resume six-way talks in July without fail to resolve the nuclear issue," said spokesman Kim Chun-Shick after delegates from the two sides met. Last week North Korea leader Kim Jong-Il said North Korea could return to stalled nuclear disarmament talks as early as July should the United States "acknowledge and respect" Pyongynag as a dialogue partner.
