BAGHDAD (AFP) Jun 26, 2005 A US soldier was killed in a roadside bombing in Baghdad Sunday as the US military confirmed the loss of two more marines in an attack in Fallujah Thursday from which another two servicemen are still posted as missing. Two soldiers were also wounded in the Baghdad blast, the military said without elaborating. Earlier, it raised the confirmed death toll from Thursday's suicide attack against a US convoy to four dead and 13 wounded. The two male marines had previously been among four service personnel posted as missing. The other two are a sailor and a marine. With one female marine already confirmed dead and 11 female marines wounded, the attack marked the worst single day casualty toll for US servicewomen in Iraq. The military said news reports that identified the marines as part of a civil affairs unit were incorrect. "The marines are from several different headquarters and service support units," it said. The latest confirmed deaths brought to 1,724 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.
