Bush supports Russian compromise plan for Iran nuclear dispute WASHINGTON, Jan 26 (AFP) Jan 26, 2006 US President George W. Bush on Thursday gave public support for a Russian plan to end the Iran nuclear dispute.
Bush told a press conference he would support a civilian nuclear energy programme in Iran if all the nuclear fuel was manufactured in Russia and the Russian authorities collected all the waste that could be used for nuclear weapons.
The United States has led attempts to refer Iran's nuclear programme to the UN Security Council, which could take sanctions.
