The conference, organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency, will take place on November 19-22, with some 300 participants expected from 70 countries, the IAEA said in a statement.
"Steps to combat the risk from trafficking in nuclear and radioactive material are now considered a routine part of providing public security," the head of the agency's Office of Nuclear Security, Anita Nilsson, said in the statement.
She pointed out that the IAEA had provided support in the past for such events as the Olympic Games and the football World Cup.
Participants from the fields of intelligence, justice and customs as well as non-governmental organisations are also expected to attend the conference.
