![]() Harris Corporation announced Thursday that it has been selected by the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) for a potential 10-year, $1 billion program to provide operations, maintenance and support services for the agency's global communications and information systems. The NRO designs, builds and operates the nation's reconnaissance satellites, providing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Department of Defense (DoD), and other US government agencies with relevant products. "The NRO is a long-time, valued customer of Harris and we're excited about the opportunity to expand our role as a mission partner to include day-to-day mission support," said Howard L. Lance, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Harris Corporation. "We're especially honored that the NRO has entrusted Harris to provide technical services so critical to maintaining US national security." Under terms of the contract, Harris Technical Services Corporation (HTSC) will act as prime contractor, providing communications and information technology (IT) services at NRO locations around the world. HTSC's major teammates are Raytheon, AT&T and CACI International. "The NRO systems support work will focus on transforming the existing mode of delivery of communications and IT services to a performance-based IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)-compliant way of doing business, which will ultimately result in more cost-effective IT service management for the agency," said Larry Whitfield, president, HTSC. |
