. SI International Awarded $20 Million Air Force Space Command Contract

SI International announced Monday that it has been awarded a prime contract to provide technical support to the Air Force Space Command, Directorate of Requirements, Space- Based Military Satellite Communications Branch (AFSPC/DRNM).

The competitive task order has a one-year base period with four one-year options. The contract's value is $20 million over five years, if all options are exercised.

SI International will provide information technology systems engineering and integration, systems analyses, system/specialty engineering, and architectures for MILSATCOM programs including: Transformational Communications, Advanced EHF, Global Broadcast Service, MILSAT terminals, Wideband Gapfiller System, Command and Control system - Consolidated, SATCOM Database, Milstar, Automated Communications Management System, and the Enhanced Polar System.

Working closely with the Air Force Space Command, the Space and Missile Center, and the Electronic Systems Center, SI International will be applying object-oriented modeling to define the highly complex, globally-networked communications systems of the future. These modeling techniques will utilize SI International's core competency in Net-Centric Enterprise Architecture, and help ensure that the new systems will be interoperable, agile, and responsive.

"We look forward to supporting this contract with our demonstrated capabilities in space systems engineering, operational architecture, military satellite communications, and command and control systems."

SI International recently rolled out the JCIDS (Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System) Center of Excellence. This important new capability leverages knowledge, people, processes, and state-of-the-art toolsets to develop the extensive documentation required to acquire new capabilities within the Department of Defense (DoD).

"We believe our demonstrated expertise in the complex and evolving Joint Integration and Development System was key to winning this new award," said Clay Bosler, principal operational architect at SI International. "Under this contract, SI International will be assisting Air Force Space Command to define, develop and field the key communications infrastructures to support the ongoing transformation to a net-centric mode of operations and warfare."
