IAI Introduces Concept Of Operations Research And Analysis Lab

Orlando FL (SPX) Nov 28, 2005
Tuesday at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), Israel Aircraft Industries' MAGNET Center, IAI's NCW Division, introduced its Concept of Operations Research and Analysis Laboratory (CORAL).

CORAL is a comprehensive suite of simulation software tools designed for development, experimentation, and evaluation of operational concepts in a network centric warfare environment.

CAE has assisted IAI in the development of the CORAL system, which is built using CAE's STRIVE simulation framework. The CORAL system is part of a comprehensive portfolio of command, control, communications, computing, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions being developed under cooperation between IAI and CAE.

"The CORAL system is ideal for concept development as military commanders and decision makers at various mission command levels evaluate scenarios and doctrines in a collaborative network centric environment," said Ofer Haruvi IAI's MagNet General Manger. "We have the ability in CORAL to integrate actual live and operational systems with virtual and constructive simulations to provide a valuable decision support tool."

The IAI CORAL system allows the user to define specific platforms, sensors, weapon systems, and entities, including friendly and enemy forces. The user can then generate a variety of mission scenarios involving multiple forces, weapon systems, and other battlefield assets. The resulting scenario combining operational and simulated environments allows military commanders and researchers to evaluate the validity and effectiveness of doctrines, operational concepts, and tactics.

"CAE's STRIVE simulation framework provides the technology foundation for creating the synthetic environment at the heart of the CORAL system," said Bruce Miles, Vice President of Business Development, CAE. "The CORAL system is one example of a broad cooperative development agreement between CAE and IAI that will produce leading-edge Collaborative C4ISR (C5ISR) solutions."
