Lockheed Martin Space Systems has been awarded a $106 million U.S. Navy contract modification for Trident II D5 missile procurement and support.

The fixed-price-incentive, cost-plus-incentive-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee modification covers new procurement of missile production, life extension development and production and deployed systems support.

The maximum value of the modification if all options are exercised is $788 million.

The Trident II D5 is the latest generation of the sea service's submarine-launched fleet ballistic missiles.

It was first deployed in 1990 and is currently aboard Ohio-class and British Vanguard-class boats.

Lockheed developed and produced the missile and support equipment as the Trident prime contractor. It also provides technical and logistical support at sites where missiles are deployed.

Work will be performed in Georgia, Washington, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Arizona, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and other locations. The estimated completion date is November 2021.

The Navy's Strategic Systems Programs is the contracting entity.
