Rolling Meadows IL (SPX) Dec 06, 2012

LITENING G4 technologies include a true 1Kx1K forward-looking infrared and charge-coupled device, as well as short-wave infrared laser imaging sensors, color symbology, tracker improvement and enhanced zoom.

Northrop Grumman has delivered its 250th LITENING G4 targeting system ahead of schedule. LITENING G4 is currently in full rate production to accommodate separate indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contracts with the U.S. Air Force and the Naval Air Systems Command.

These contracts allow for procurement of new LITENING G4 pods as well as upgrades of existing LITENING Advanced Targeting Block 1 pods to the advanced LITENING G4 configuration.

"Northrop Grumman's early delivery of the LITENING G4 to the warfighter is an example of the company's commitment to quality and continuous improvement," said Jim Mocarski, Northrop Grumman's vice president of electro-optic/infrared targeting systems.

"We were able to deliver the most affordable and advanced targeting capability available ahead of schedule. It is a tremendous effort toward the overall mission."

LITENING G4 technologies include a true 1Kx1K forward-looking infrared and charge-coupled device, as well as short-wave infrared laser imaging sensors, color symbology, tracker improvement and enhanced zoom.

These advancements deliver more accurate target identification and location at longer ranges than previous generations of LITENING targeting pod systems.

Integrated on a wide variety of aircraft including the AV-8B, A-10A/C, B-52H, EA-6Bs, F-15E, F-16 and F/A-18, LITENING is in operation with the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, U.S. Marine Corps and several allied nations.
