Reston VA (SPX) May 07, 2008 The Warrior Training Alliance, led by Raytheon Technical Services, has begun integrating the U.S. Army's live, virtual and constructive training under the Warfighter FOCUS (Field Operations Customer Support) program. RTSC, a subsidiary of Raytheon, won the 10-year, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract last summer. Since the program was awarded, the team has spent the last several months on transition activities to ensure the program would be ready to start May 1. "We have completed the transition process and are positioned to provide world-class training support for our warfighters around the globe," said Mike Edwards, RTSC vice president and program manager for the Warrior Training Alliance. The Warfighter FOCUS program is under the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation to consolidate operations and maintenance, systems integration and engineering support services for the Army's live, virtual and constructive training systems. The program is operated by the Raytheon-led Warrior Training Alliance, which is composed of industry leaders with highly relevant areas critical to the Warfighter FOCUS program's success. RTSC provides technology solutions for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. RTSC specializes in Mission Support (including installation, integration, maintenance, training and logistics support of air traffic control systems), counterproliferation and counterterrorism, homeland security solutions, base and range operations and customized engineering and manufacturing. Washington DC (SPX) May 05, 2008An updated version of the Global Assimilation of Ionospheric Measurements (GAIM) model went operational at the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) on February 22, 2008. The operational GAIM program has been under development since 1999 by the U.S. Department of Defense and is managed by the Naval Research Laboratory's (NRL) Space Science Division. This new version of GAIM is capable of ingesting ultraviolet (UV) data sets from DMSP satellites. |
