Quadsat has collaborated with NATO NCIA to conduct a measurement campaign aimed at verifying the US Space Force's Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) compliance.

Building on Quadsat's inclusion in the 2023 NATO DIANA program, the campaign demonstrated the capability of Quadsat's drone-based RF measurement system to conduct military-standard testing. Held in Den Haag, the campaign included critical measurements such as wide-angle Azimuth antenna pattern analysis, elevation and 3D pattern testing, and G/T measurements essential for WGS compliance.

Quadsat's technology integrates a UAV equipped with a customized RF payload, allowing precise and flexible antenna validation. The system features bespoke software that produces standardized reports across multiple measurement types. DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) is a specialized accelerator program that collaborates with innovators to address critical commercial and defense challenges, offering direct support for testing emerging technologies.

A representative from NATO Communications and Information Agency's SATCOM division, who participated in the tests, said: "Ensuring satellite antennas meet stringent military requirements is absolutely vital to keeping our communication lines clean and free from errors. However, performing these tests can be challenging, time-consuming, and costly. This campaign has proven the feasibility to carry out challenging complex antenna's international MILSATCOM standards measurements in-situ and in a short timeframe."

Joakim Espeland, CEO of Quadsat, stated: "This measurement campaign with NATO NCIA was extremely successful, showing our ability to confirm WGS compliance. I hope this will lead to our system being validated for use as a means of WGS certification. Thanks to our recently established, and growing, service partner network, this means that the military will be able to perform these measurements and approvals much faster and more cost-efficiently than is possible today."
