(NASDAQ: VSAT), a global satellite communications company, has been awarded a five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) with a ceiling value of $568 million. This contract extends a similar IDIQ agreement issued in 2019 and aims to support U.S. Defense Forces by advancing command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities. Under the contract, Viasat will facilitate the transfer of C5ISR best practices from Special Operations Forces (SOF) to General Purpose Forces (GPF), bolstering their operational readiness. The company's extensive portfolio includes tactical gateways, airborne and ground SATCOM terminals, advanced networking solutions, and cybersecurity capabilities. Following its acquisition of Inmarsat in 2023, Viasat has expanded its offerings to include resilient communication solutions tailored to meet evolving Department of Defense (DoD) mission needs. This contract structure is designed to address critical DoD priorities such as mobility, resilient networking, cybersecurity, and broadband SATCOM services. It enables the rapid acquisition and implementation of emerging technologies, ensuring military personnel benefit from cutting-edge solutions to meet operational demands. Viasat will also focus on identifying and integrating new innovations to support the DoD's enterprise C5ISR objectives.
