One of the systems will be equipped with AS&E's Radioactive Threat Detection (RTD) technology to detect nuclear devices and dirty bombs, and it will also be modified to endure harsh environmental conditions. Valued at approximately $1.2 million, the order also includes installation, operator training and a two-year parts and labor warranty.
"I am pleased to announce this order from a U.S. Government agency," said Anthony Fabiano, President and CEO. "With this order, we have sold 29 Z Backscatter Vans to date."
"The ZBV is a breakthrough solution for cargo and vehicle screening, with its ability to reveal materials that transmission X-rays can miss - explosives, plastic weapons, contraband and radioactive materials - during drive-by scans."
"It's AS&E's signature Z Backscatter technology that makes this possible. The ZBVs in the field are winning high marks from customers, confirming the system's competitive advantages. The Z Backscatter Van is faster, more effective and less expensive than any mobile X-ray screening solution on the market today."
AS&E's Z Backscatter Van (ZBV) is a low-cost, extremely maneuverable screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. The ZBV allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections without impeding the flow of commerce.
The system's unique "drive-by" capability allows one or two operators to conduct X-ray imaging of suspect vehicles and objects as the ZBV drives past.
