BSI2000 Awarded Patent For Homeland Security Products

BSI2000, a leading developer of integrated optical card- based systems and technology, announced today that it has been awarded patent number 6,775,774 titled "Optical Card Based System for Individualized Tracking and Record Keeping."

This wide ranging patent award covers employee and personnel tracking and entry access control systems that use optical cards with biometrics. Other allowed claims cover uses of optical cards specific to the air transport industry, security applications in the petrochemical industries, clinical medical records and pharmaceutical/pharmacy uses, optical cards coupled with RFID technology and others.

The claims center around the protection of high-value economic assets such as airports, refineries, nuclear operations, manufacturing facilities and government buildings. A total of 26 claims filed by BSI2000 have been allowed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The original application was filed in 1999.

Townsend and Townsend and Crew LLP of San Francisco serves as patent counsel for the company. Townsend is the largest intellectual properties law firm west of the Mississippi River.
