LaBarge Awarded Contract From General Dynamics For Aegis Weapon System Controller
St Louis MO (SPX) Aug 18, 2004
General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products awarded LaBarge a $3 million contract to manufacture the sophisticated controllers for the Aegis combat system. LaBarge produces Controller MK200 - a component of the Group MK81, which is produced for the Aegis Weapon System MK7.

LaBarge has produced the MK200 Controllers in its Huntsville, Ark., facility for nearly a decade. The Company expects production for this new contract to begin in February 2005.

Deployed in fleets such as the Arleigh Burke class of guided-missile destroyers, the large controllers are an integral part of the MK99 Fire Control System, used in the US Navy's most advanced air defense system - the Aegis combat system.

The Aegis system integrates missiles, rapid-fire Gatling gun cannons and electronic countermeasures to provide anti-air, anti- surface and anti-submarine warfare protection to the naval fleet.

A four-time recipient of the US Navy's prestigious Aegis Excellence Award, LaBarge's long-term involvement with the Aegis program also includes a variety of high-performance electronic assemblies, which it has manufactured for more than a decade.
