SYS Technologies Awarded Multiple Contracts
San Diego (SPX) Aug 19, 2004
SYS Technologies ("SYS") has been awarded three contracts with a total potential value of $5.0 million in new business over the next three years for SYS.

SYS was awarded a contract for software development and technical consulting to support the transition of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency ("DARPA") developed distributed collaboration and decision support capability known as "Command Post of the Future" ("CPOF") into an Army Command and Control program over the next two years. Army forces conducting operations in Iraq are successfully using a version of the CPOF software.

SYS is providing expertise in building a DataBridge capability to provide real time data interconnectivity to legacy systems and developing Web portals to allow access to CPOF. In addition, since March 2004, SYS has been deploying technical personnel to Iraq to evaluate operational requirements, provide training and conduct in the field-testing during operational use by Army personnel. The provided support has become a critical tool for the Army Division Commander's Concept of Operations. This contract will run for approximately two years.

"This effort demonstrates the synergy between the SYS Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance ("C4ISR") capabilities and the advanced data management capabilities we acquired from Polexis and how through a combination of theses capabilities we offer a more powerful set of skills to our customers in mission critical decision support systems," said Cliff Cooke, chief executive officer at SYS. "I am very pleased to see the teaming paying off so soon for our customers and for SYS," added Cooke.

The second of these contracts will be performed by the recently formed SYS Technologies Human Performance Services Department, led by Dr. Linda Fenty. Dr. Fenty's Group concentrates on expanding the educational market for SYS by providing subject matter expertise for distributed learning strategies, organizational performance, learning methodologies, knowledge management, as well as education, training and curriculum development support to federal and state governments and large industrial organizations.

Dr. Fenty has an extensive background in the training and education field and significant experience supporting a variety of corporate and Department of Defense operational organizations and high-level staffs.

This contract is to support planning for knowledge development and distribution for a key US Government customer. The mission of this office is to develop a global knowledge development and distribution capability which will enhance the joint war fighter's ability to transform knowledge into combat power.

This will transform culture by preparing future decision-makers and leaders (officers, enlisted and DoD civilians across the joint community) to employ joint operational art, understand the relevant common operational picture and respond innovatively to adversaries.

SYS Technologies will lead a working group of representatives from all the combatant commands, services and government support agencies in the writing of the strategic plan for this initiative. SYS will facilitate the development of actionable tasks that will lead the implementation of the Combatant Commander's requirements prioritization, validation and approval among stakeholders representing joint education and training.

In addition, SYS Technologies has been awarded a contract to support another federal program focused on an international education and technology initiative. The program is a management improvement initiative to facilitate enhanced information technology and education and training support for the international security objectives expressed in the Department of Defense's Defense Planning and Security Cooperation Guidance.

SYS Technologies' tasking is to support the program management office in the selection of research and development programs focused on collaborative educational technologies. Following the selection process, SYS will assist in designing the program assessment model for tracking and collecting critical data and information during the development phases of each of the projects. SYS subject matter experts will also provide support in curriculum development, educational technologies and foreign area program issues.
