This effort will include activities and programs supporting the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance Directorate (SQMA) at the agency. Swales will lead a team including Millennium Engineering and Integration Company (MEI) and subcontractors, SRS Technologies and Vanguard Research.
"This is an important win for us," said Tom Wilson, CEO of Swales Aerospace.
"We are pleased that the engineering skills and capabilities we have developed over our long involvement with the nations' space activities will be applied to support the mission of the Missile Defense Agency. As the team lead, Swales steps into the role of primary mission assurance contractor for the agency," he added.
The work will involve developing, maintaining, and coordinating MDA mission assurance policies and procedures supporting SQMA roles and responsibilities.
The mission of the Missile Defense Agency is to develop and field an integrated Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) capable of providing a layered defense for the homeland, deployed forces, friends, and allies against ballistic missiles of all ranges in all phases of flight.
Using complementary interceptors, land-, sea-, air- and space-based sensors, and battle management command and control systems, the planned missile defense system will be able to engage all classes and ranges of ballistic missile threats.
