The scope of this program includes the development and integration of a multispectral sensor combined with a standard optical fingerprint sensor.
This combination of technologies will provide high assurance that a scanned fingerprint originates from a genuine finger thus providing strong resistance to attacks from fingerprint mimicking mechanisms.
Seamless integration of multispectral and conventional scanner technologies will provide an additional security level for biometric systems and resolves a present issue within the security market. This integrated approach diminishes the ability for a criminal or terrorist to gain access to a facility by using a fake fingerprint to spoof an access control system.
This anti-spoofing technology continues to be funded by multiple government agencies.
