Xybernaut Awarded Add-On Contract From US DOD For J-STARS Program
Fairfax VA (SPX) Sep 22, 2004
Xybernaut announced Monday that the Company has been awarded an approximately $160,000 add-on task order from the U.S. Department of Defense as part of an expansion of programs related to use of its mobile/wearable computing technologies.

This particular task order contract is related to existing programs already underway with the 116th Air Control Wing based at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. The 116th Air Control Wing is responsible for operations and maintenance of the Joint STARS aircraft, one of the most sophisticated surveillance aircraft in the U.S. military.

Under this add-on contract, the 116th Air Control Wing is initially taking delivery of 40 Xybernaut Atigo T/HB (High Bright) computers.

The enhanced Atigo computers are being acquired and deployed after an 8 months period of formal Department of Defense evaluations to find technologies and methodologies that reduce aircraft maintenance costs and could easily be deployed on a broader basis across many military units.

In addition to the Atigo hardware deployments, Xybernaut Solutions Inc. (XSI), the Company's services subsidiary, has also been providing the 116th Air Control Wing with professional solution services ranging from systems integration and testing, user training, wireless configuration and support, and general implementation assistance. Xybernaut won this bid under its GSA Schedule.

"This and additional expected DOD deployments are great examples of how we are meeting customer needs with a unique blend of technologies and solutions services," stated Steven A. Newman, Xybernaut president and COO.

"Our customers continue to realize considerable return on investment from both our hardware/products and our expertise/know-how."

Building on its traditional business areas of project management, asset management and software development, XSI also supports Xybernaut clients in providing world-class mobile software and service-based offerings (such as WiFi readiness assessments), which turn wearable/mobile computers and methodologies into total solutions.

Xybernaut continues to execute key growth strategies to develop scalable, replicable mobile/wearable computing solutions that anticipate customers' needs and deliver full function computing power where and when it is needed.
