Goodrich's Customer Services facility in Sydney, Australia will upgrade 170 units over the next 2-1/2 years. The upgrade work involves a major refurbishment of the Generator Converter Units by changing out the majority of the internal components and replacing them with the latest electronic hardware.
According to Tom Mepham, President of Goodrich's Customer Services division, "This contract is a testament to the true breadth and depth of what our global network of customer services facilities can offer the marketplace for both Goodrich and non-Goodrich produced equipment."
"In addition, our customer services team in Sydney has worked very hard to earn the standing of 'preferred supplier' to the RAAF and our past experience supporting them with F/A-18 avionics and secondary power systems were key factors in their decision to work with us on this modification program."
"We're honored to be able to continue to add to our portfolio of support services for the RAAF."
Wing Commander David Langlois, stated, "The Tactical Fighter System Program Office is pleased to be engaged with Goodrich for this modification program. The program is expected to deliver significant benefits to Australia's tactical fighter capability by improving system reliability and reducing maintenance costs throughout the life of our Boeing F/A-18 'Hornet' fleet."
As an original manufacturer of systems and components, Goodrich has a significant presence on the Boeing F/A-18 "Hornet." Goodrich supplies the nose and main landing gear, fuel gauging, lighting, air data sensors and ice detection as well as various engine components for the aircraft.
