Montreal Metro Selects Verint Networked Video Solution To Enhance Security
Melville NY (SPX) Oct 13, 2004
Verint Systems Tuesday announced that the Societe de Transport de Montreal is deploying Verint's Networked Video Solution to enhance passenger security and deter crime across the Montreal Metro system. Societe de Transport de Montreal is responsible for operating the city's mass transit system, including the Montreal Metro and bus lines.

The Montreal Metro system provides underground access to the city of Montreal and its suburbs via four train lines averaging approximately 800,000 passenger trips every weekday.

The Metro also provides access to Montreal's "indoor city," a widespread underground network of pedestrian promenades that connects major downtown buildings.

The Verint Networked Video solution will enable Metro surveillance officers to enhance security of the underground rail system by centrally monitoring passenger platforms and certain parts of the track from the Metro's central operations center.

The solution will be delivered in conjunction with Verint partner Solutions Technologiques Enixum.

"The Montreal Metro is a source of pride for our city, and has been designated as one of the safest systems in North America by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA)," said Claude Dauphin, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Societe de Transport de Montreal.

"But in this era of heightened awareness, it's imperative for us to continually enhance security and provide the safest possible travel environment for our riders. Verint's Networked Video Solution will enable us to monitor movement, protect passengers and deter crime across our rail system."

Verint's Networked Video Solutions enable government and commercial organizations to enhance the security of their facilities by networking video across multiple locations and applying advanced content analytics to extract actionable intelligence from live and stored video.

By alerting security personnel to potential security threats, Verint's Networked Video Solutions are designed to help organizations prevent security breaches and improve response time.

"We are pleased to help the Montreal Metro to enhance security for its passengers and its infrastructure," said Dan Bodner, President and CEO of Verint Systems.

"We have significant experience working with transportation authorities and are committed to delivering innovative networked video solutions to enhance security for the global transportation industry."
