Raytheon Wins Antarctic Program Follow-On Contracts

Raytheon has been selected to continue support services for the National Science Foundation's U.S. Antarctic Program. The support contract extension is for $546 million, bringing the total value of the contract to $1.172 billion and extending the agreement another five years from April 1, 2005 to March 31, 2010. The initial program was awarded in April 2000.

Under the contract, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC (RTSC) will continue to provide science, operations and maintenance support for the U.S. Antarctic Program, the nation's scientific research program in the Antarctic, to include all labor, materials, facilities and equipment. Work is performed in Antarctica, South America, New Zealand and the United States.

The U.S. Antarctic Program is the national program for scientific research and geopolitical presence in Antarctica, the world's southernmost continent. This presence includes the conduct of scientific activities in major disciplines, year-round occupation of the South Pole and two coastal stations, and logistics, operations, communications, maintenance and construction services for the program.

Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC provides technology solutions for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. It specializes in product and systems support, customized engineering and on-site engineering solutions.
