Eaton's aerospace business is supplying lubrication systems for the Rolls-Royce LiftFan. Rolls-Royce is developing the LiftFan as part of the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem, part of a System Development and Demonstration subcontract from Pratt & Whitney, for the F135 STOVL propulsion system for the Joint Strike Fighter program.

The Rolls-Royce LiftSystem is comprised of the LiftFan, Roll Posts and 3 Bearing Swivel Module. Current value to Eaton is $38 million based on a current production level of a total of 759 aircraft over the life of the program.

Eaton has been responsible for managing the lubrication system's overall development process, including the management of multiple component suppliers to achieve the established technical specifications and guarantee the overall program's performance, schedule and cost goals.

The unique lubrication system represents the culmination of an earlier 18-month development program. The system incorporates Eaton's lube reservoir as well as pump, filter, FCOC and special valve from partner suppliers. The integrated lube reservoir also utilizes Eaton's unique deaerator and related accessories.
