LaBarge Finalizes Contract With NG For Mesa Airborne Radar Subsystems
St Louis MO (SPX) Nov 17, 2004
LaBarge has finalized an agreement valued at $4.1 million with Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems sector to supply electronic subsystems for its MESA (Multi-role Electronically Scanned Array) radar system.

Under the contract, LaBarge has expanded its role to manufacture and integrate an additional collection of complex electronic components for transmit/receive modules. The modules transmit and receive radio waves, which become translated into position and velocity information for targets of interest in the air or on the ground.

The MESA radar is a military advanced airborne surveillance radar system with an all-new, multi-mode design that enables the radar to simultaneously track air and sea targets while continuously scanning the operational area.

The work LaBarge is doing under this latest contract award supports the deployment of the MESA radar in the Australian Defence Force's Project Wedgetail and Turkey's "Peace Eagle" Boeing 737 AEW&C program.

LaBarge began performing the work at its Huntsville, Ark., location in September and expects production to continue through February 2005.

LaBarge is a Northrop Grumman Preferred Supplier and has been a member of Northrop Grumman's MESA production team since 2002.
