Land-Based ABM Market Continues As Most Profitable Sector

The total missile market is expected to be worth more than $100 billion by 2015, according to a new visiongain report. Missiles for land-based AD systems will make up the largest share of this market, accounting for approximately 25 per cent of its total value. The study, entitled 'The Land-Based Air Defence Systems Report', reveals that the land-based air defence market is being given new impetus as a result of dual concerns over ballistic missile proliferation and the emergence of new aerial threats, including UAVs and cruise missiles.

India on Sunday successfully tested a nuclear-capable missile fired from a mobile launcher in the eastern coastal state of Orissa, a defence ministry official said. The test of the Prithvi-1 (Earth) missile took place at the Chandipur-on-Sea test site, said the official, who declined to be named.
