Air Force Materiel Command has recognized a year of fully providing Servicing Major Command support to Airmen supporting the U.S. Space Force.

On June 1, 2022, AFMC reached Full Operational Capability status for its supporting role for the USSF.

As the Servicing MAJCOM, AFMC is accomplishing the roles and responsibilities traditionally performed by a major command for Airmen supporting the USSF. These major command functions include, but are not limited to, providing policy guidance, interpretation and, where applicable, waiver authority; professional development opportunities and guidance; developmental team representation; and functional-specific roles.

Approximately 8,800 Airmen assigned to Space Force installations and units are being serviced by AFMC.

AFMC is exploring new ways of ensuring Airmen and Guardians are aware of the support AFMC provides and receive regular updates on that support.

AFMC recently created a new online resource for finding information and reaching functional personnel at AFMC. The new page on the Department of Defense's milSuite site was created to facilitate communication between AFMC, Airmen, and Guardians. It provides servicing MAJCOM information and AFMC points-of-contact for mission support issues and questions. Only people who have a DoD common access card can gain entry to the milSuite site at https://www.milsuite.mil/book/groups/afmc-servicing-majcom-for-ussf.

AFMC declared Initial Operational Capability on Oct. 1, 2021, and reached Full Operational Capability as Servicing Major Command for Airmen supporting the Space Force on June 1, 2022. The Department of the Air Force created this unique and first-time Servicing MAJCOM structure in October 2020 to ensure Airmen supporting the Space Force receive the same force development opportunities, functional and administrative support as those at U.S. Air Force installations.

For personnel-related issues, Airmen at USSF installations are serviced by their local Military Personnel Flight and Civilian Personnel Office, and the Air Force Personnel Center continues to provide service to all Airmen at Space Force installations.
