Framatome delivered ATRIUM 11 reload fuel assemblies to Olkiluoto 1

Framatome delivered a reload batch of ATRIUM 11 fuel assemblies to the Olkiluoto 1 nuclear power plant operated by TVO (Teollisuuden Voima Oyj). It is the first reload of the ATRIUM 11 fuel design worldwide after Lead Fuel Assemblies proved safe operation and its superior performance at this plant during the past years.

ATRIUM 11, the market leader in boiling water reactor fuel assemblies, features unrivalled economic performance, more safety margins and greater flexibility in operations. The fuel assemblies were manufactured at Framatome's site in Lingen, Germany.

"For OL1 we performed the first manufacturing of ATRIUM 11 at an industrial scale. We trained our teams intensively and upgraded our production facilities. Thanks to a great cooperation among the sites we are proud to deliver this new fuel assemblies in time", said Lionel Gaiffe, responsible for Framatome's Fuel business.

Olkiluoto 1 is a boiling water reactor with an installed electrical net capacity of 880 megawatt. The plant is located at the Finnish West coast. First grid connection took place in 1978.

Framatome modifies Loviisa nuclear power plant's control rod systems

Framatome has successfully modified the Preventive Protection System (PPS) at the Loviisa* nuclear power plant, operated by the Finnish utility Fortum. The Preventive Protection System uses control rods to monitor the reactor power and contributes to the safe operation of the plant.
