Northrop Grumman to support Japan's E-2C Hawkeye
by James Laporta
Washington (UPI) Apr 20, 2018

Northrop Grumman was awarded a contract from the U.S. Navy for identifying friend or foe technology compatible with the E-2C Hawkeye.

The deal, announced Thursday by the Department of Defense, is valued at more than $51.8 million under the terms of a firm-fixed-price delivery order, which is a modification to a previous basic order agreement.

The contract from Naval Air Systems Command enables Northrop Grumman to provide services for the delivery, installation and testing of one Japan E-2C Hawkeye compatible AN/APX-122A Mode 5/S interrogator and transponder, according to a Defense Department contract announcement.

Additionally, the contract provides "non-recurring engineering for the developmental laboratory work, integration laboratory testing, software modifications," along with other associated hardware.

Work on the contract will occur in multiple locations across the United States and at Naval Air Station Misawa, Japan, and is expected to be complete in December 2020.

The total amount of the contract will be obligated to Northrop Grumman from foreign military sales at the time of award.

The Pentagon says that none of the obligated funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
