Raytheon gets $52 million Miniature Airborne GPS task order

Raytheon has received a $52 million U.S. Air Force task order to modernize the Miniature Airborne Global Positioning System receiver 2000, or MAGR-2K.

System work will involve incorporating required Defense Department and civil mandates, designing, testing and delivering a military code (M-Code)/automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast capable system.

It will also involve generating and delivering a formal engineering change proposal to the baseline configuration.

A qualified MAGR-2K-M, which will include GPS M-Code and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast out functionality, while designing out known and anticipated obsolescence issues, will be delivered under the deal.

It will also contain provisions for open systems architecture approaches.

The effort will also include the necessary MAGR-2K-M Operational Flight Program, modification of any firmware if needed and accomplishment of complete line replaceable, unit-level environmental and functional testing and qualification of the MAGR-2K-M system.

Work will be performed in California with an expected completion date of July 2019.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The Super Hornet jet carries the MAGR-2000 system, providing improved position, velocity and time performance reporting, that results in a more accurate weapon delivery.
