Latest list of countries contributing forces to Iraq coalition

With the departure of the contingent from the Philippines, 31 states are now contributing forces to the US-led coalition in Iraq. These are the latest figures from AFP.


   1.   United States: about 140,000
   2.   Britain: about 9,200
   3.   Italy: about 3,000
   4.   Poland: 2.500
   5.   Ukraine: more than 1,650
   6.   Netherlands: 1,350
   7.   Australia: 880
   8.   Roumania: 730
   9.   South Korea: 660 (non-combattants). A contingent of 3,000 soldiers is 
expected at the beginning of August.

10. Japan: about 550

11. Denmark: about 500

12. Bulgaria: 470

13. Thailande: about 450 (began to leave early July, withdrawal to be completed by September 20)

14. Salvador: 380

15. Hungary: 300

16. Mongolia: about 170

17. Georgia: 159
