BASRA, Iraq (AFP) Sep 23, 2004
The Iranian navy on Thursday intercepted five Iraqi fishing boats and detained nine fishermen off the coast of the Fao peninsula near the southern city of Basra, the commander of Iraqi coast guards said.

"Five boats were intercepted in the area called Ras al-Bisha," said Ali Hammad al-Musawi, without being able to say whether the incident took place in Iran's territorial waters in the Gulf.
