. Pentagon metro station closed after incident
WASHINGTON (AFP) Dec 06, 2004
Authorities closed an underground entrance to the Washington metro at the Pentagon as a precaution Monday after several people at the subway stop experienced eye and throat irritation, a spokeswoman said.

Arlington county authorities sent a hazardous materials unit to inspect the station, said Pentagon spokeswoman Cheryl Irwin.

She said the action was taken after a kiosk attendant and a couple of other people in the station reported experiencing eye and throat irritation.

"As a precaution, the Pentagon closed the metro entrance," she said.
