French nuclear group Areva responds to Chinese appeal for reactor bids PARIS (AFP) Feb 28, 2005 The French nuclear group Areva said Monday it had officially responded to an appeal by China for bids covering the construction of four third-generation nuclear reactors. An Areva statement said the group had proposed its EPR (European pressurized water) reactor, which has already been ordered by Finland and France. Westinghouse of the United States and Russia's AtomsStroyExport have also submitted bids. No timetable for awarding the contracts have been put forward so far.
