N. Korea nuclear talks to resume on Sept 2: Chinese official
TOKYO (AFP) Aug 25, 2005
Six-nation talks on ending North Korea's nuclear weapons drive will resume on September 2, a Japanese politician said Thursday, quoting China's chief negotiator Wu Dawei.

The countries "plan to resume on September 2," Wu, the Chinese vice foreign minister, told Social Democratic Party party leader Mizuho Fukushima at a meeting here, a party official said on condition of anonymity.

The two Koreas, China, Japan, Russia and the United States broke off the latest round of talks earlier this month at an apparent impasse over Pyongyang's demand to have nuclear facilities for civilian energy needs.

China, North Korea's main ally, is hosting the negotiations.
