ATHENS, May 23 (AFP) May 23, 2006
A Turkish F-16 fighter plane and a Greek fighter jet disappeared from radar simultaneously on Tuesday near the Greek Aegean island of Carpathos, raising fears that they may have collided in mid-air, state television channel Net reported.

The TV said there was a "99-percent" chance of a mid-air collision between the Turkish fighter and a Greek plane rushing to intercept it.
