The Israeli military said Wednesday that a soldier was killed in southern Lebanon the previous day, bringing the total number of its fatalities there to 12 since the start of the ground operations.The military identified the soldier as Staff Sergeant Touvel Yosef Lifshiz, 30, of the Golani Brigade, who was killed in combat in southern Lebanon.
It said five more soldiers were also wounded in the same incident.
Israeli forces have been fighting Hezbollah militants in the area since the Lebanese armed group entered the Middle East war on March 2 by firing rockets into Israeli territory.
