Raytheon has been awarded a new contract to produce ground segments for Northrop Grumman's Global Hawk program, which will support the U.S. Air Force RQ-4A/B Global Hawk unmanned aerial system. Financial terms were not disclosed. Raytheon will build additional Global Hawk ground segments consisting of the launch and recovery element, the mission control element (MCE), and associated ground communication equipment. The system provides high resolution imagery data to tactical commanders in near-real time. The sensor data obtained from each Global Hawk is transmitted to the MCE via wideband RF line- of-sight or satellite data link. Data is then disseminated to existing command and control systems or directly to properly equipped tactical field users or exploitation centers. "We are proud to be awarded this new contract to supply additional launch and recovery elements and the mission control elements to the Northrop Grumman Global Hawk program and the Air Force," said William P. Jones, vice president of Tactical Intelligence Systems. The ground segments award is from Lot 4 of the Global Hawk low-rate initial production program. Along with the Global Hawk ground segment, Raytheon also produces the sensor suite for the Global Hawk from its Space and Airborne Systems business in El Segundo, Calif. L-3's Link Simulation And Training Division To Build Predator Training Systems
Orlando FL (SPX) Nov 28, 2005L-3 Communications has announced that its Link Simulation and Training (Link) division has been awarded a $7.3 million contract option from the U.S. Air Force's Aeronautical System Center to build seven Predator Mission Aircrew Training System (PMATS) production units and three brief/debrief systems. |
