Rumsfeld warns Iranians against impeding US, British forces

US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Friday warned Iran against interfering with the operations of US and British forces in Iraq.

Rumsfeld said hundreds of Iranian-backed Iraqi rebels had been seen coming into Iraq.

"To the extent that they interfere with General Franks's activity, they would have to be considered combatants," Rumsfeld said.

"We will hold the Iranian government responsible for their actions and will view that activity inside Iraq as unhelpful," he added.
