New airstrikes, anti-aircraft fire in Baghdad
BAGHDAD (AFP) Mar 29, 2003
Loud explosions were heard around Baghdad late Saturday morning as aircraft roared overhead and anti-aircraft defenses swung into action, AFP reporters in the Iraqi capital said.

A new round of bombardment hit inside the city around 11:15 am (0815 GMT), although no air raid sirens were sounded. About an hour earlier airstrikes appeared to strike Baghdad's periphery.

The Iraqi capital came under heavy bombing overnight and Saturday morning, with at least one missile crashing into the information ministry.

Some 38 people were killed and 80 wounded from the repeated bombings in Baghdad on Friday. At least 30 of them died when a missile hit a market, hospital officials said.
