Iran's demand for Iraqi war reparations is indisputable: Rafsanjani
TEHRAN (AFP) May 19, 2003
Iran's influential former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said his country's demand for war reparations from a post-Saddam Iraqi government was indisputable.

"Iran's demand that the future Iraqi government pay reparations for the eight-year war in 1980s, which has been confirmed by UN and even the Iraqi people, is indisputable," Rafsanjani told Iran's Arabic-language Al-Alam television.

"We count on receiving reparations from the future Iraqi government," he said.

Iran has filed reparations claims of 100 billion dollars against Iraq for the 1980-88 war.

In 1990, the call for reparations was partially approved by former UN secretary-general Javier Perez de Cuellar.
