Lockheed Martin sues Boeing for allegedly misusing secret Lockheed data
BETHESDA, Maryland (AFP) Jun 10, 2003
US defence contractor Lockheed Martin Corp., filed suit against the Boeing Company, Tuesday, alleging its rival illegally used secret Lockheed papers during competition for US Air Force contracts.

Lockheed accused Boeing and three of its former employees of misappropriating secret information from Lockheed Martin's proposal for the Pentagon's satellite launch vehicle program during the 1990s.

The 28-count complaint filed in federal court in Orlando, Florida, alleges that Boeing and the individual defendants, together with other Boeing employees, used the information in putting together their bid and then lied about it to both the Air Force and Lockheed.

The technology giant is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, costs, and return of all proprietary information.

The Boeing Company ultimately won a contract to conduct 19 of 28 military satellite launches under the Air Force's Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) program.

The 1998 deal was worth 1.37 billion dollars to Boeing.

Lockheed Martin Corp. won a 650 million-dollar contract for only nine missions.
