Raytheon names William Swanson CEO
LEXINGTON, Massachusetts (AFP) Jul 01, 2003
William Swanson took over the helm of US defense contractor Raytheon Tuesday, replacing chief executive officer Daniel Burnham, who announced his departure in April, citing personal reasons.

Swanson, 54, has been with the firm for 31 years and has served as president since July 2002, Raytheon said in a statement. He will retain that title in addition to serving as CEO.

Burnham, 56, who served as Raytheon's chairman and CEO since July 1999, will stay on as chairman for a time, the company said.

Swanson said he was "honored" to lead the defense and electronics group.
