DCN bids 800 mln euros for German submarine maker HDW: report
FRANKFURT (AFP) Jul 08, 2003
The French state-owned shipbuilding group Direction des constructions navales (DCN), has offered to buy German submarine maker HDW from its current owners, the investment fund OEP, for 800 million euros (904 million dollars), the daily Die Welt reported on Tuesday.

OEP (One Equity Partners) had not yet made a decision on the offer, the newspaper added, without revealing its sources.

However, the German government was already considering blocking the deal for fear German defence-related technology could fall into foreign hands, Die Welt said.
