Robertson met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev upon his arrival and was also due to hold talks with Kazakhstan's foreign and defense ministers and top national security officials.
Top of the agenda were the Partnership for Peace program and Kazakhstan's possible assistance to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF), NATO officials were quoted by the ITAR-TASS news agency as saying.
Robertson will leave Kazakhstan Thursday for Kyrgyzstan, where he is due to hold similar talks with President Askar Akayev and Kyrgyz officials.
