Senate approves spending bill for US military installations

The US Senate on Friday unanimously approved a 9.196 billion dollar spending bill for military construction, as Washington moves to expand and renovate US military installations around the world.

"With concern over our nations security a high priority for many American families, these funds are essential in maintaining quality military facilities all over the globe," Republican Senator John Ensign of Nevada, a key backer of the bill, said after the vote.

The legislation, approved by a vote of 91 to 0, covers the planning, design, construction, alteration, and improvement of US military facilities worldwide.
