Body found near London appears to be missing arms expert: police
LONDON (AFP) Jul 18, 2003
A body found Friday west of London appeared to be that of missing Iraqi arms expert, David Kelly, who has been at the centre of a row between the BBC, the government and critics of the war in Iraq, British police said.

"The body matches the description of Dr Kelly. The clothes do match the description of Dr Kelly's clothes, but we have not yet formally identified the body," a police spokeswoman told AFP.

Kelly, 59, has been named as the possible source behind a BBC report which alleged the British government had "sexed up" its dossier on Baghdad's arms capabilities ahead of the war on Iraq.

He had gone missing on Thursday, two days after facing a grilling by a parliamentary inquiry into the affair.
